looking for help?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My son is 8 years old and has been tested to be at a kindergarten level. Our school district attempted to asess him as having autism but could not conclude. We have taken him to vision therapy, brain scans to verify lesions, and various therapists have declined to asess him as they don’t think they could help. He is very bright and artistic. He loves to draw and although they are not Dali or davinci they are pleasing. He has a wonderful voice and at an early age could mimic sounds to perfection. He has a speech delay and he sounds like if you are talking to a 4 year old. He has a hard time understanding concepts such as math, and does not read very well, and if we focus on a letter he will forget the next day. However his memory is such that he is able to remember how to operate electronic equiptment. He is very independent and will argue until it drives you insane. Can anybody provide some input?

I would suggest having him tested by a private neuropsychologist. This may give you more information that what you have already had done.
