looking for special schools

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My 8 yr old boy has been diagnosed with developmental dysphasia ( expressive and receptive language disorder), and LD. Although his non-verbal IQ is fine, the other IQ scores were much lower. He is getting speech/language therapy for the last 4 years , and he is still behind his years. He goes to a public school, and the teachers there are great , but I think he might benefit more from a specialized school where they are more focused on language delays. I am hoping that there’s someone out there who knows a great school (anywhere in the US) which may be the one for my boy. Any parents who have a child with similar language delays might be able to provide us with some help. Thank you.

I was searching for schools that dealt with LD. My daughter has auditory processing problems and other LD.

I found a place in MA, called Landmark School. I found it because of the workbooks I have found for schooling.

Landmark School

This looked like a good school for LD. I haven’t checked into it more than e-mailing and requesting info. So I can’t give you more than that.

Good luck, I understand the feelings and questions you may have. I’ve been through much with the public schools and have gotten nowhere. I hope your child doesn’t have to be put through all the hoops and the horrible self esteem my daughter has.

Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

Thankyou Moomoteaches , for the info on Land Mark school. I actually came upon it last wk, and sent them all the info they needed. I was hoping if someone had a firsthand experience with any special school, in regards as to how good they are , or not. Anyway thank you, my search is still on. Let me know if you know of any other school that may be language disorder/ and LD based . Thank you .
