multisensory structured sequential language approach to read

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

In my son’s IEP meeting I had asked to to have in the IEP that he receives a multisensory structured sequential language approach to reading similar to what he had in 2nd grade since he made such progress and the teacher will not be back in the fall who taught him.

The school did not document this in the IEP. I called and asked that this be put in the plan and the person who failed to put it in originally only stated on the addendum ” multisensory approach” which is way different than an MSL. At a dyslexia conference they stated that you need to state MLS or they may just use any type of not approved program. Any comments.

I am thinking of writing a letter to the school to request a different person to be on the team then this person who keeps making errors. She is also very rude to the teachers and parents and is unprofessional and a hindrence in the meetings. The school has another professional that would be more appropriate.
Any commments.
