Not "in the mood" for testing-- grrrr!

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Just venting here- my dd (10th grade) is undergoing triennial testing and was pulled from class by the psychologist to do the WISC. She tells me she was “mad” because they were going over material for a test in history and she missed half of geometry. Since she was “not in the mood” she says she probably didn’t try as hard and gave up easily. So once again, her scores will probably be “low average” and indicate that she is “working to the best of her ability”. Luckily her small school will allow her to stay in a resource class all year, but she can probably only earn credit for it for the first semester. I will mention this when we meet to go over scores, but I risk sounding like the parent who just can’t accept that her child isn’t that smart. Grrr.

I would ask the school to be more sensitive to what your daughter may me missing in the classroom; put this in writing. Also state that from your daughters discription of her state of mind during the WISC testing that the results are invalid. Ask that they perform another IQ because the current IQ testing was invalid.
