I am new to all of this. I have a 6th grade son just diagnosed with ADD (inattentiveness ony). We are seeeing a psychopharmacologist in the next week or so. Even before diagnosis I hadbeen working with the Resource Room teacher and guidance counselor for the past 3 months on behavior strategies and they have helped but we all agree that improvement has plateaud for the time being.
Someone suggested organizational coaches. what are they? how do you find one? I am in Boston, MA
THANKS.
Re: Organizational Coaches
Some tutors act as organizational coaches. Presently I work with a couple kids in that capacity. I meet with them at the end, and sometimes the beginning, of every school day.
ADHD coaches are used to help kids develop organizational skills and study skills. Most kids with ADHD have trouble with writing down homework, remembering to turn it in, keeping their papers straight, etc. Many also have difficulties with organizing their writing and studying for and taking tests. A good way to find a coach is through the medical professional who evaluated your child. You might also check out the CHADD website or general announcements board on this website. I hope this helps.
