It is my NSHO that PBDE’s represent a “missing link”
in the meteoric rise of autism, ADHD and processing
disorders that we have seen in the last 40 years.
These chemical cousins to PCB’s are poorly studied at
best, and are thought to have similar carcinogenic and
neurotoxic effects that caused PCB’s to be banned from
the market. These are te “miracle” flame retardants
that have become so widespread in our homes and
schools that testing conducted in 2004 found that US
women of child bearing age had nearly 100 times the
body burden that European women had.
