Pa test results

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Pa test results are in and only 49% of the kids here past the testing.

Hmmmm so, what do y’all think could 51% of the kids be ld? I have heard all the excuses some people are poor and uneducated, some people don’t speek english, testing is dumb.

Every excuse is available and it is always something to do with the kids fault. I’m tired of hearing it I don’t care about all these different situation. It is time that educators step up and admit the kids aren’t being taught enough to pass the tests.

The people I know who home school their kids pass the tests and they aren’t even teachers.

Our children are being ripped off on education and it isn’t just ld, adhd, mr, whatever lable they have it’s 51% of the kids. Think about having a 51% population in future years of people who haven’t been taught basic stuff.

Well, now that the proof is out, the schools and teachers are going to have to face the facts and figure out how to actually teach something. It is no fun for the kids caught in the middle — but better to find out now while they are still in school and there is some hope of improved programs before they leave, than to leave it until they get on the job market and find they are functionally illiterate.
If the majority — over 50% — are scoring a certain way, then it cannot be a disability, it’s the norm. So if the norm is failure, then the system is failing. Go to a few school board meetings and speak up and hammer this fact home. People don’t like to hear this, but now you have the tools to fight with.

It doesn’t surprise me. I had a terrible experience in Central PA. The teachers were very well paid with all of the tax dollars. However, when dealing with LD, they were very into blaming the child and the parents.

The administration was a disgrace. God forbid they have to change anything. They like to keep everything the same, year after year.

Hopefully now the parents will be angry enough to press the schools to do a better job in teaching the basics.
