I’m really liking the philosophy of PACE, I’m buying the fact that strengthening the basic cognitive skills first will bring the reading, writing, spelling, etc.
But, from the posts I’ve read there is not much positive feedback.
I was wondering if anyone has done their home-version and what their results were?
Re: PACE home version
There was another mom on Schwablearning who got good results with PACE too. I have seen the program and liked it. My son was tested but he ranged at near grade level or above in processing. He had also just gone thru Lindamood bell lips and V/V so I think that is why he did so well on the free testing, therefore not a candidate.
Hi little lulu,
I haven’t been on board for awhile so I’ve missed the PACE posts and am surprised to hear that there is not much positive feedback! I have not done the home-version of PACE, which is a condensed version of the original, but I am a PACE trainer. At this point in time I’ve only trained one child - my dd - and we achieved excellent results. We began with PACE and then moved into their reading program Master the Code. She went from a 3rd grade to an 11th grade reading level (she was in 7th grade at the time)! We did work longer than protocol because we worked to a 90% mastery instead of 80% but it was well worth it! I am firmly convinced that the cognitive skills training, combined with the metronome and drill format, are what really made the difference. Her spelling also improved with this program.
My dd has been diagnosed with VPD, APD, dysnomia, and a poor working memory. PACE did help improve these cognitive skills though auditory memory was probably the least impacted.
Blessings, momo
