Parent Feedback-Report Card Comments

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi Everyone! I am conducting a very short survey to find out parent feelings about report card comments. This survey will be part of an in-service presentation coming up in another week.
What I need to know is:

Parents: Do you really read report card comments? What are your gripes with report card comments? What do you want to see in a report card comment?

This will be very helpful to me. Thanks!

Yes I ALWAYS read report card comments every time there is a report card. I like them to be obviously about my child’s struggles and achievements. My child’s last six weeks report card had the most rediculous generic comment - I am quite sure that it was the same for everyone in the class and was entered weeks before the report card was printed.

Keep the comments real, helpful, and meaningful. I saw a book at the teacher’s supply store full of possible report card comments. How personal those would be!

Best wishes on your presentation.
