I’d like to share a success story in the making. I was on dexadrine for 5 years in high school and it brought my grades up considerably when i began taking it. then when i went to college (on full scholarships) i decided i didnt need it anymore and stopped taking it. I failed all my classes, began experimenting first with alchohol (which i had never messed with in high school), then with certain drugs. I gained weight - 80 lbs in 2 and a half years - and went from being a self assured motivated young woman to an irresponsible and self destructive teenager. I flunked out of college and went home. I moved out on my own and have been struggling ever since with bills, working 2 or 3 jobs at a time, depression over my weight gain, failed relationships, and family problems that resulted from my behavior. I’m 21 now. When I was 20 I started asking my counselor to put me back on dexadrine. The answer was a firm no. So I went to a different doctor and asked for the same thing. Instead she put me on adderral. I have no doubt that adderral is perfect for many out there but it wasnt right for me. It helped me concentrate but made me feel speedy and wired - a feeling i didnt really care for. So for a while I kinda gave up hope of ever getting my life back to normal. Then My primary care phgysician finally came through for me and put me abck on dexadrine as well as a fat blocking medication called xenical. I put myself on a strict diet (with the help of the dexadrine to stay focused and determined - and not to mention it is also an appetite suppresant)I have lost exactly 12 lbs in 2 weeks! I’ve heard negative stories on just about every ADD medication out there - ive been told dexadrine is addictive. Perhaps thats true. however, i took myself off of it for 3 years without knowing that and chose to begin taking it again because it was the one thing that i knew was tried and true. and my life has changed once again for the better in the last 2 weeks. Many thanks to Dexadrine! And many thanks to my physician for prescribing it!!!!! I have 58 lbs to go to reach my weight loss goal and i know i will acheive that within the next year - the right way.
What you report about Dexedrine as working well for some of those with ADHD (well = temporarily reduces ADHD symptoms), that is so true. Dexedrine can work for some of those with ADHD better than Adderall or other ADHD drugs. There also are cases where coffee/caffeine compounds work for a small subpopulation of those with ADHD better than other stronger drugs like Ritalin, Adderall etc.
