Hello Everyone again,
I am soooo Greatful for all your help. You all should be proud of your selfs for helping all of us Mom’s and I promise I will be finished wiht this topic soon, I know I am redundant. I don’t know what PG stands for.
Also, I did make an appointment with Lindamood but, after hearing the price I am now getting up off the floor.
I think after reading this I will go to a book store and get the reading Reflex book, and Phonic faces Artic card and work with him myself. Do I go to any book store for Reading Reflex? I have a pyramid Book maybe they have the Phonic faces if not I will go to Elementory.com
I will let you know how my interview goes with LMB, they said it will take two hours for an informational interview.
phonographix...
I believe Phonographix is the sessions with trained therapist version of Reading Reflex.
I ordered a used copy of Reading Reflex off the Web for $8.00. It was probably through the used books links on Amazon.com but I no longer remember.
Can’t tell you much about Reading Reflex because we never used it. It turned out to be just a little too young for our 11-year-old.
Re: PG stands for what? Thanks again
Actually, Reading Reflex is frequently used with teens and adults. Shay who is on this board a lot uses it with her high school students. It may seem low level, but if you can’t decode, you must learn to blend and segment those little words at the beginning. No way around that.
Willow, good testing is expensive, unfortunately. I took a look at those Phonic Faces cards and I don’t think they are like Lindamood Bell LiPS. Just get a reading reflex book. You can get one for $12 on Amazon or sometimes for less on ebay.
Phono-Graphix is the name of the reading method contained in the book, Reading Reflex.

what does PG stand for
Hi, I haven’t posted here for awhile but I wanted to add my 2 cents. You might want to go back to the SLP person who told you your child needed LMB and ask if they would suggest you try PG or if she really thinks he needs LMB. Some kids just do. Esp kids that can’t hear sounds within words. For my son the give away was GuaRRRd always came out god. From there we realized that there were more sounds he didn’t hear. LMB corrects that by helping the child FEEL the letters in their mouth and it also corrects the speech problem. So you are getting help for 2 probs at once. I know the clinic prices are high for LIPS but there are other ways of getting it for your child. Again go back to the person who said you needed it and talk to them . They should have some resources to help you find somebody. In our area for example the school district about 20 miles away does offer it and had trained 3 teachers. A parent here was able to arrange for the teacher to give out of hours tutoring. And because it was secifically speech-language nad diagnosed by the county speech person her insurance paid for a lot of it. She might have been able to get the school district to pay for it but decided it wasn’t worth the hassle since their insurance would pay. It depends on your child but if he is feeling like a failure he may have only one more try in him and trying PG first may just make him feel even more of a failure if it doesn’t work for him. We trained a tutour for about 2k and she then subtracted that from our tuition costs. I realize that even that may seem like a lot, but for us it was the choice between a son that reads ( and now at or above grade level) and a kid that never read.
Re: PG stands for what? Thanks again
Let me just add that I had my child tested at Lindamood Bell and was very pleased. She does not need LiPS, but she does need Seeing Stars and Visualizing and Verbalizing. I think LB programs are excellent and well worth it for the child who needs more than PG. I attended two trainings this summer because I felt the programs were excellent after watching some of the video training. I plan to take the rest next summer.
There are differences in children with reading disorders and some fit some programs better than others. I know my child needs the symbol imagery that LB offers.

It can also mean Profoundly Gifted but not in the context used on this site.
