PhonicEar

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Our school sent home a notice that PhonicEar has been put in all K-2 classrooms and their reason is so that everyone can hear.

I know what PhonicEar is intended for (CAPD and hearing impaired) but we are so backwards on things. It’s like pulling teeth to get specialized services or even remedial classes for those who need it (at our school) yet we can equip all the primary level classrooms with a specialized device.

Am I missing the benefit and priorities here?

Ironically, my CAPD son will be in 3rd grade next year, so he will not benefit.

Anyone have experience with PhonicEar (good or bad)?

Wow, what fabulous news! That’s a very progressive thing they are doing. That will benefit all kids, and the teacher will save her voice from straining. Now tell them you want one for your son’s class, too!

What is PhonicEar? We have a son with CAPD and expressive/receptive language disabiliities, so I am interested in what it is and how it is being used in primary classrooms. Thanks!
