Picture vision, creating places in your mind.

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

As some of you may know I have a 11 yr. old dyslexic son. Some of you have asked in the past if he has the ability to see pictures. I finally figured out he does. I would like to know more about this. Does anyone have any clues where I could find some information on this subject?

I have read “The Gift of Dyslexia” by Ron Davis. I would like to get more information on the pictures; by articles, books or by personal experiences.

Here are two books that explore the issue of visual thinking:

In the Mind’s Eye, by Thomas West

Thinking in Pictures, by Temple Grandin

Temple Grandin is autistic, but her book really provides a lot of insight into the workings of the mind of someone who needs concrete visual imagery to function.

Best wishes,

Abigail
