Re: Caffeine for ADD?

EMAILNOTICES>noRecall reading a book about Attention Deficit Disorder with an unusual title, How to Cure Hyperactivity (An ADHD autobiography)(1981) by C. Thomas Wild (an adult with mild ADHD - Inattentive type predominantly) and Anita Uhl Brothers, M.D. where several FDA approved caffeine compounds apparently worked better than Ritalin in temporarily reducing the symptoms of ADHD. It’s the most reliable book I’ve read which indicates that the right caffeine compound can be of help for what is believed to be a very small subpopulation of those with ADHD who tend to respond better to the caffeine molecule than the structure of Ritalin or other much stronger medicines. The book was available through the non-profit Learning Disabilities Association of America.Apparently there are a couple of websites which can provide some further information.: My friend took her child to a nuerologist today for an exam and
: diagnose of ADHD-Inattentive in her daughter. She was very
: disturbed by the lack of formality in diagnosing. She gave her a
: quick check up and then looked briefly at a questionare my friend
: filled out. She diagnosed her quickly, even without looking at
: behavioral scales from the school.: Anyway, what concerned her is that since she said she wasn’t keen on
: medicating her with Ritalin just yet, the doctor recommended she
: give her caffeine instead. She told her to have her drink a can of
: soda or even coffee in the morning. Is this an alternative course
: of treatment that I haven’t read about yet?: Jackie
