If you are trying to figure out if this is SID or ADD, I would test for CAPD even if the speech teacher thinks differently. Call an audiologist who does this testing. I would not leave it up to chance or just the speech teacher. My son’s speech teacher didn’t think he had a processing disorder either, yet it is quite bad, when tested.Denise: Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my earlier posting.
: You are all so knowledgeable and thoughtful. I spoke with both my
: son’s speech therapist and classroom teacher. His speech therapist
: thinks a lot of his problems with inattention in the classroom are
: caused by his Sensory Integration disorder, whereas his teacher
: feels they are due to ADD. We have a conference next wee with some
: of the supportive staff. I’ll probably have my son further
: evaluated through the school. The speech therapist doubts very
: much that my son has CAPD, and explained why. Does anyone know of
: any way to distinguish between the inattention of SID and that of
: ADD? It wouldn’t matter so much if the treatment for both were the
: same, but it isn’t. I’d appreciate your insight(s).
