I found out about this on another bb and thought it was well worth checking out. The video is “How Difficult can This Be”, a F.A.T. CityWorkshop by Richard LaVoie. Our PBS online store offers it for 49.95, but I was able to borrow it through our Regional Education Servicing Agency. I haven’t gotten it yet but thought I would pass this on and see of anyone had seen it.
re: Video about what its like to be LD, form kids perspectiv
This is a MUST see video, I have seen it at least 3 times.
LaVoie is excellent!
Another truly brilliant speaker is Van Acker from Chicago. Not aware he’s got a video, but he ought to. Both of them are gifted in their ability to give typical people (especially teachers who may be less than enthused about working with “difficult” children) a glimpse into the world of those with ADD and dyslexia.
Van Acker?
Do you know of a contact for this person. I am in the Chicago area and would love to have him possibly speak for our group. I have never heard this name before.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks!
It is a WONDERFUL video, but have a box of kleenex ready. Actually it is not from the child’s perspective. Rick Lavoie takes adults through exercises that simulate the frustration and difficulties people with LD face every day.
