They are often helpful — they train their volunteers in Orton-Gillingham methods and the volunteers have to start out with at least a Bachelor’s degree (our booth was next to theirs at the Illinois IDA convention today so I heard a lot :-)). They’re definitely worth checking out!

I took my son to the one in Dallas for diagnosis of dyslexia. They were very good and did a lot of tests. They put out about a 11 page report for me to take back to my school to help with accomodations. The center here has never charged anyone for anything. I think you will be happy with them. Ours has a very long wait, but with yours being new, it may not be as bad.
