son has LD help in CA

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My son is 7 and has been diagnosed with dyslexia. He is a great boy with a positive outlook on life (so far). He is kind and considerate and does well with other kids except for his immaturity. (He’s more like a 5 year old).
He most likely has an auditory processing problem as well as some dose of ADD and anxiety issues. I have had him in occupational therapy because of delayed motor skills and sensory issues, he’s been in speech therapy since he was 2,5. I’ve had him in auditory processing therapy. I pulled him out of 1st grade after 2 years of frustration with the school and lack of support. My husband has dyslexia and other LDs and you would think he would be more supportive but at times I feel I’m everything my son’s got and it is overwhelming. I am originally not from this country so there is no support from any direction addeed with a lack of understanding the school system here.
I live in a small town in southern California and there are NO resources what so ever here.
Please, anyone, if you know of any private schools who deal primarily with children with learning disabilities, let me know where they are. I will relocate anywhere at this point just go give him the help he so desperately needs. Or if you can recommend any other resources close to where i Live in Riversied county, I would be so thankful. Pardon my long letter.
