SRA

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I read here that the SRA reading program was designed for LD students. Many years ago, our school used SRA (and phonics) for everyone in first grade. It seems to have worked well, to judge solely by how my classmates and I fared in life since then.

My question is if materials designed for LD students are in fact generally superior to traditional materials. I have a chance to buy SRA cast-offs from a private school that is updating is materials and have my mother’s phonics teaching materials. I’d like to use them for my non-LD children as enrichment materials.

Are there any LD materials that you WOULDN’T recommend for non-LD children to use as enrichment materials?

Thanks!
