As any parent of a child with reading problems will know, your journey with dyslexia will take you to some highs as well as some lows. Low points may include periods of frustration and perhaps having to deal with unaccommodating teachers. Along the way, however, you will also experience many long term positives, including becoming aware of developing skills that are a result of your different child’s learning style.
Recently, we met an amazing gentleman by the name of William May. William is the New York born creative director of a number of well known stage productions - his latest production being “Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live Experience” which is currently touring North America. As you can see from the video, William has a very positive view on his dyslexia and credits it for much of his success.
We found William an inspiration to us and invite you to view the following video clip featuring William. Love to hear your thoughts.

You are so right about staying positive and to expect frustrations. My daughter was diagnosed with severe LD when she was pre-schooler in 1989.I
was told she would most likely never learn to read or write. She graduated from college in 2006 and is now a mental health therapist. We just published a book entitled Surviving Learning Disabilities
Successfully, by Nancy E. Graves and Danielle E. Graves. The book is a short read and a very inspirational story for parents, kids and
educators. It provides rules for managing the challenges of manuevering through the educational system when you have these challenges. www.survivinglearningdisabilities.com. Frustration is a daily fact of life, but staying strong and having a plan for success is how you get through.
