My school district has informed me that they are not doing summer school this year do to roofing repairs to be made during the summer.I am very disappointed. My son was greatly helped by summer school last year. I am wondering if they must provide him with some sort of summer tutoring so he can stay on track? He currently has a 504 but we are awaiting a meeting to make that an IEP (waiting for 1 more eval. report). Thanks!
In our school district, summer school is only for kids that failed the standardized tests 2 years in a row, it is proven that the child not retainwhat they learned over the summer months and actually regress, or if the school did not live up to the services required by the IEP, for example, the SPED teacher did not see the child for a month.
