Greetings,
My dd was recently diagnosed with ADD/inattentive type by her counselor. This was determined through observation combined with the completion of the Connors and other checklist-type of forms. The 9yo ds of my friend exhibits symptoms of ADD. Her biggest concern for him is his inconsistancy with schoolwork. One day his schoolwork will be A’s, the next day F’s. He also has difficulty copying from the board. The local public school has agreed to test him.
What type of tests should she request?
Because of his difficulty with copying from the board, I thought he should have the Test of Visual Perceptual Skills but don’t know what else to recommend. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Blessings, momo
The child shoud receive a complete psycheducational evaluation to rule out an underlining learning disability. Any part of a good evaluation includes a ability test, an achievement test, developmental history, language evaluation tests, along with the checklists you mention. This is so you are looking at the whole child and just not the fact that it is a child with ADD.
