I want to thank those who chimed in on my missed annual review issue. I spoke w/the Sped Director today, and told her that as far as I am concerned the IEP is null and void since I was not allowed to participate. She agreed to toss it out and is rescheduling the meeting so that SHE can also attend.
Got a note in the mail from the Case Manager today along with my son’s progress reports. Case Manager wants to know why she hasn’t heard from me (She knows by now b/c her boss was going to talk to her). Sped Director agreed to take her off my son’s case.
Get this, current grades for my son. Eng 71 (thank goodness!)
Algebra, D+ (missing 7 assignments, he is not putting enough effort into the class), Italian, D+ (59 on one test, 58, 50, 64 on quizes and three assignments missing), World History D-/F (“very little effort, failed quiz, missing assignmennt). All his “fault,” and Case Manager seems to think it’s a good idea to lower expectations for him by having him not get a grade below C- next year.
What a piece of work.
make very sure you write a follow up letter,and detail exactly why she hasn’t heard from you or,that you have contacted her and she didn’t respond. This is her way of covering herself,don’t LET her!
