I was recently at the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill’s national convention in DC. A psychologist in a seminar I attended spoke about the negative inpact of placing a child on a level system. A system where their behavior dictates the level (whether numbers or letter) that they are on and the priviledges associated with that level and can be detrimental to children who can, becasue of their illness not necessarily control their behavior. This causes frustration on not only the child’s part but also on the professionals and parents dealing with the child. Can anyone give me some resources to take back to the professionals in my son’s life that would help us to come up with a better and more positive system for all involved? Thanks
