Does anyone know of a software program that deals with Visual Processing?? There apparently is one, since my son's eye doctor uses it but where can I get it and what is it??
My son has ADHD and a Visual Processing Deficit, however the CST refused service since he tested in 3 of 4 tests over his chronological age. His VIQ is 154 and his PIQ is 102 so testing based on his age is deceiving. He just finished Vision Therapy for a visual teaming problem and the same developmental optometrist can give therapy for this but my son is fried from 5 months of this. He starts football in less than a month and enjoys being able to run around and knock people over since with the ADHD he spends most of his life hearing complaints about his behavior and impulsivity.
The doc was not forthcoming with the name of the software that he uses and I was hoping that someone on here would know. Thanks for any help.
Re: Visual Processing Software
Greetings Beverly,
I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for but my friend recently began using the following program with her son. She purchased it through a developmental optometrist for $125. This is what she told me:
The program is called Perceptual Therapy System by Sidney Groffman MA,
OD and Rodney K. Bortel. It is made by American Therapy System, Inc P.O. Box 109 Cicero, Indiana 46034 (317) 984-2210. Web site is
www.homevisiontherapy.com. Last time I checked the web site it had info
about an different program for focusing issues but didn’t have any info
about this program. It looks like this one was copyright in 2001. Oh, here
is a toll free number you may want 1-888-810-3937. The program works on visual closure, visual span, visual concentration, visual sequential processing, tachistoscope, and visual motor intergration.
Blessings, momo
