What are the Laws in Missouri?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

In a earlier post I was advised that it would be best to get my daughter evaluated privately and that in most cases I can request that the school pay for it. I live in Missouri and I know that the laws aren’t the same in all states so, does anybody know where I can find out if my state will do this. Do I have to request this in writting to the Board of Education? I have a meeting tomorrow at the school to go over the testing that was just completed but , reguardless what the tests say I would like her tested professionally especially if I can get the school to pay for it . I really wish I would have known this earlier. I would have had her tested before now. Thank you for all the helpful information I have gotten already.

HI Wendy! I can help you with any questions about MO. First, you **should** have recv’d a copy of the Procedural Safeguards at your referral staffing. In it, you will find a section devoted to private evaluations. Depending on the district, especially if you are in St. Louis County, each one has different approaches to private evals. I am not sure what other info you need at this time, but I will be happy to help! Liv
