Can anyone explain to me what “mild learning disabilities” actually means. Is there a point system or some other criteria for determining who is mild, moderate or severe? Then after they determine that, is that how they determine the amount of services they are entitled to. I’m thinking that maybe this is where the school and I differ on how we view my son’s disabilities. Thanks in advance.
There’s no line in the sand to separate mild from severe, though of course the test scores tend to look very different! They really keep a kiddo from functioning in all kinds of situations — and you’ll see wild swings from the highs to the lows on test scores.
A “mildly LD” kiddo can sure be struggling as much as a severely LD one can, though.
