Hi Parents…Is your son or daughter struggling in reading? Do they need help decoding words?
I am a certified instructor for the Wilson Reading Program (www.wilsonlanguage.com). The reading program is nationally recognized from Seattle to Boston. The Wilson Reading System is a research-based reading and writing program. It is a complete curriculum for teaching decoding and encoding (spelling) beginning with phoneme segmentation. WRS directly teaches the structure of words in the English language so that students master the coding system for reading and spelling. The Wilson Program can be used for students in grades 1-12, depending on their reading needs.
The basic purpose of the Wilson Reading System is to teach students fluent decoding and encoding skills to the level of mastery. From the beginning steps of the program, it also includes sight word instruction, fluency, vocabulary, oral expressive language development and comprehension.
I have a B.A. in special education as well as elementary education and working towards my masters. This is my 5th year teaching in special education in a Montgomery Public School.
Your child will receive a formal reading assessment (WJIII, WADE, reading fluency) prior to receiving academic instruction/tutoring. I will do pre and post testing so you and your child can see the gains that he/she has made.
