WISC-IV test results came back, so I'm back to square one

My daughter is in the second grade and she’s seven years old. She was diagnosed at 2 with ADHD. I know it’s young, but her dad has it, my brother has it and all of her cousins, so we figured that if it was anything then it would be ADHD. Well she just had a psychoeducational evaluation done at her school. It says now that she’s not ADHD. In fact it says that her iq is 105 which is average, but her reading comprehension, spelling and writing are way below average. The report also says that there is no reason for her not to learn. Of course she’s going to keep her IEP and they’re going to try and help her. But I don’t know what to do. If she can learn and there’s no reason for her not to learn. Well then why isn’t she learning like everyone else??? I just want to help her. So someone that has been there and done that, please tell me what I can do.

Sounds similar to what happened with my dd. What I ended up having to do was to request an Independent Educational Evaluation (at public expense) to figure out what exactly was going on. There are a LOT of things that school testing does not test nor that school professionals have knowledge of. I would seek a second opinion.

I would recommend private testing as well. Perhaps an evaluation for Central Auditory Processing Disorder may help, as a large number of children with this are misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD. An audiologist trained in CAPD can perform the evaluation.
Good luck.
