We were just presented with this year’s draft IEP (Ohio). The language is very vague compared to other years. Instead of referring to specific disciplines, such as Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Special Education Tutor, everything is lumped together as “Intervention Specialist”. My husband, a regular ed teacher in same district, has heard rumblings that the district is pushing this language so that they can then cut some jobs, and designate whomever they wish as an “Intervention Specialist”. Others say, “No, no, that’s what the Ohio Dept. of Education is now certifying these disciplines as…” We’re worried that the custodian might be providing SLP to our kid.
Has anyone else experienced this?

PS: We postponed the signing meeting until we can get all of our ducks in a row.
for covering the tails it is ALL incompassing…that term…Intervention specialists and all schools are working towards a collaborative model and not as much pull out…
In the district I currently work for..it says all team members…that includes the parents and the kid…But as either intervention specialists or all team members…we all still have to meet the goals and objectives…
