EMAILNOTICES>noPASSWORD>aa.WKuN.MsKscThere is some research that says yes, it works for some kids. My depressed/ADHD child took it for awhile and it did seem to help, though the changes weren’t dramatic. Stimulants like Ritalin seem to work best for certain symptoms, i.e. hyperactivity. Our M.D. felt that it was safe, in fact he said it can be given to pregnant women.

Particularly interesting to me was a speaker I heard at CHADD who was discussing that where a stimulant might be more useful at younger ages, that sometimes can taper off towards puberty and they’re finding anti-dpressants particularly useful post-puberty and in Adult ADD/ADHD. Some kids do suffer depression after prolonged ADD/ADHD struggles, school failure, sociol difficulty, self doubt, always feeling challenged or different….. for younger ages it may be helpful for those effcts as well. I know my daughter came to think she was TOTALLY stupid by the time she was 8…..she was ADD and falling through the school cracks despite my efforts to get help since 1st grade. I’ve heard good and bad reviews about zoloft. From aggresive behavior to it being a saving grace
