I’m trying to find a good source for making my own math manipulatives for college level courses. It’s seems most of the commercial products are too expensive or geared towards younger people. Can anyone help me find a cheap way to get or make them?
Re: College Math Manipulatives
Thank you! I’m an ld specialist who works with college students, and I’m trying to figure out a way to help them construct thier own creative versions at home with minumal anount of cost or resources. The problem is, I’ve read a lot about others saying that this is a good idea, and it’s helpful, but I can’t find any examples of how to implement or make them so that they work with higher level math, such as in college. So if you know of a book that shows how they are used and how to make your own, that would be helpful.I will take a look at the university you mentioned.Sue J wrote:

Check out the University of South Carolina — they have a course in using manipulatives at the secondary school level and the math does get pretty advanced. Are you looking for a single set for your own use, or to use in teaching, or to market?
