advice: effective cognitive training software for home use?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I’m a junior year student at University of Colorado. I was just diagnosed with inattentive add last year. I also have some memory difficulties, my weaknesses most specifically lie in the visual-spatial department and sequential learning. I’ve done some iq testing and my results are above average but I have near a 20 point split between performance and verbal iq on the Westler III test. I am looking for some cognitive training computer software that I could use at home to help with my areas of difficulty. I am thinking of getting “Test and Improve your Memory” by Tri Synergy, but I can’t find any studies on it’s effectiveness or the effectiveness of any specific software program in general. Thanks for any help.

in class would be an ALD and also taking notes on a lap top computer. I am ADD-inattentive and when I started wearing an Assistive listening device and taking notes on the comptuer my focusing and grades went up. Don’t know about the cognitive training software, also meds really help this too. Don’t be afraid to try them if a Medical Dr. recommends them.
