my son was diagnosed as having adhd and was treated for it.He just finished his year 10 exams. He has a keen sense of hearing which I’d like to tap and if possible develop a career where this sense can be an advantage.Any leads??
Re: advise needed
Rama,
A keen sense of hearing would be great in almost any profession! If you eliminate the visual arts and related fields, then most everything else requires communication in a verbal form. Although, I have been told that ADHD kids can be great at things like computer programming since their minds work so fast.
But I would say, let his interests lead him. We can give our children information, but their gifts and interests may be very different from ours.

Sue,
I had left the computer for awhile and answered Rama’s post before refreshing the page and seeing your post! Looks like we were thinking along the same lines.

Pattim had a good post about helping kids find what they’re good at and suceeding at . Just watched video about Crocodile Hunter. His interests were completely foreign to most other kids at school. He got made fun of but he was so passionate about his reptiles and bugs and wildlife he actually made it cool. Mom trying to get to appts sometimes just had to leave him in bush and go on rather than be late again. His father described him as a monster. They were hours late leaving on their one holiday because he disappeared at last minute and was finally found up a tree with a wild snake- again. Mom said after about age 3 she just realized she had to let him go his own way and pray he didn’t get eaten. What if they’d decided he ought to be a computer programmer?
What are his interests and learning strengths and weaknesses?
