alternative education

alternative education is when those who didn’t go to school for teaching are offered teaching jobs.
Do you think they should be allowed to teach regular education?

In my state, there is no one program that teachers take to become teachers. So certified teachers in my state have taken a hodge podge of courses - all different depending on where they went to college.

People who are not trained in teacher ed. programs here are likely to be as well trained as are our teachers. I also think that it’s very valuable to have worked outside a school before becoming a teacher. Teaching can be very isolating and too many teachers come to believe the whole world is a school.

People who have had other careers bring fresh perspective and new ideas into our schools and as a teacher, I welcome them.
