I’m looking for something that a mom or tutor could use to work with a second grade boy who seems to have some weaknesses with auditory processing.
In first grade it was discovered that he had not been hearing well due to ear infections. Surgery has corrected that immediate problem but he continues to exhibit problems with oral directions and whole class instruction. If instruction is given individually, he reportedly catches on quickly and is very bright. The parent is wondering if he simply hasn’t learned to attend to auditory information.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. He’s not failing in school but he is stressing much too much for a second grader.
Earobics is a good thing to try and inexpensive. Fast ForWord could be very good, too, at a MUCH higher price. But the child should be referred for a speech-language eval with problems in this area.
