I just read the book the LCP Connection and while my daughter doesn’t fit every category, she does have problems with comprehension and expressive and receptive language. These areas were addressed in the Dyspraxia section of the book. The book makes sense. I was wondering if anyone here has used the supplements and if they worked?
Thanks!
My son has been taking Efalex for about 3 years. I think just about everyone could benefit from essential fatty acid (EFA) supplementation unless they have an absolutely perfect diet.
My son has a lot of issues due to complex medical issues that have had an impact on his ability to learn. It is sometimes hard to sort out the cause and effect of different interventions. Nevertheless I think Efalex is a good thing to try. Whenever we stop (such as before surgery—there is a slim chance that essential fatty acids can interfere with blood clotting so it is recommended that you go off them two weeks before any major surgery) I see negative phenomena.
Many of the clinicians that I respect advocate for EFA supplementation such as a developmental optometrist and the practitioners at the Handle Institute.
It certainly won’t harm your child and may do some good. Some children have a hard time swallowing pills and this gel capsule is not small. If that is difficult for her, there are other products you could try.
