We are exploring the possibility of bringing assistive technology into the classroom next year for our now 2nd grader. She has shown some reluctance to using a calculator this year because “the other kids don’t use one”, and we are concerned about how she may feel with even more technology (for reading) which the other children would not use. We are planning to explore counseling for “self-acceptance” for her, but I would value any experiences or words of advice from you, the teachers in the classrooms. This is a very cooperative, sensitive, well-adjusted little girl.
