Best reading programs?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

What key ingredients/strategies should a reading program have to be effective for children with dyslexia and processing problems? And where can we find objective research that supports the use of those ingredients/strategies? How do we know, for example, that a multisensory approach works best?
Each year there are more and more reading programs. All of them claim to be research-based. All claim to be the most effective. Some LD organizations are politically biased toward certain programs, even though other programs share the same strategies. How do we sort it out?

My Take on Dyslexia[/url] at my website. I teach reading to children using a phonics program, but have found that it’s more productive in many cases to have the vision issues addressed first.
