Has anyone tried brain Gym with their students? If so, did you see benefits? What book did you use? I am a special ed teacher looking for information in this area.
Thanks
Betty
Re: Brain Gym
I’m currently using Audiblox with my 5th grade class. We just started last week, so I can’t report of any progress yet.
Re: Brain Gym
I work with preschool teachers that swear by it. The California Association of Resource Specialists and Special Education Teachers hosts a conference every year in February. This year it is in Costa Mesa (Southern CA). Last year they offered a workshop in Brain Gym. It was informative. The training manual seemed to be all that was needed, along with devoting consistent time to doing it everyday.

Re: Brain Gym
I was at a Special Ed non public school that used it with many of their kids.
It seemed to help. I have yet to use it myself, as I did not have my own classroom there, but I will file a report when I do use it.

Re: Brain Gym
Arlene,
Which exercises to they feel help and what do they help. It has been said I should do these exercises at home but does it matter when you do them or which ones. They say that he should do brain gym to get his brain ready of learning .. What on earth does this mean?
Re: Brain Gym
I am was wondering if you used brain gym? I know someone that had vision problems and it helped them it might be worth a try. also make sure the exercises are for vision. that would be helpful. Please note all can benefit from brain gym. they even have a book for business people along with for golf. I read that it helps with sports.
The best book to get is the white Teacher’s manual. That’s all you need.
One of our public charter schools for challenged children incorporates 45 minutes of Brain Gym exercises into every school day. A friend of mine whose dd is developmentally delayed thinks it helped a lot. I don’t think it would have been nearly as helpful for my dyslexic daughter, whose primary problems have been phonological processing and vision.
If you’re interested in Brain Gym, you might also be interested in Audiblox, which is a cognitive training program. Audiblox has a classroom version of its program as well as an individual version. Website is http://www.audiblox2000.com.
Brain Gym and Audiblox are different, but compatible.
