Has anyone heard of or especially used “Reading Clinic: Brain Research Applied to Reading”? Somehow I found Neuro-Learning Systems, in Gaithersburg, Md. They have two 15-20 session tutoring programs that sound pretty intense. As an alternative they have this do it yourself book.
The tutoring is 3 times a week - “never had a failure program”, or 1 time a week with home help 6 days a week. Or the book. Gaithersburg is 1 1/2 hrs. each way from Gettysburg three hours of driving for 25 min. sessions at $40.00-$45.00 ea for 15-20 could take alot of the fun out of the program.
Frankly the “never had a failure” claim to me is a strike against ‘em, even if they’ve never had a failure, but I wasn’t made to be a marketer. Lots of things claim to be The Answer and it becomes more important to believe that than to be honest. Intensive programs are the ones that do work — and there are several good options available, so I’d make sure there wasn’t something comparable closer to home before I trekked to Gaithersburg. THen again, I never did like those particular highways :)
