Hi! Has anyone used the Brain Skills program at www.brainskills.com? The program looks good, but I’m hoping to get feedback from someone that’s actually used it. It would be at least $500…
Thanks for any comments,
Karen

Brain Skills is good, but it’s only about one-third of the total PACE program from which it is derived. Brain Skills is generally recommended for kids without LD or only mild LD’s. If your child is severely LD, or has unaddressed sensory/motor deficits, your gains from the program would be limited.
Have you looked at Audiblox? This is a home-based cognitive training program that isn’t quite as comprehensive as Brain Skills (for example, it doesn’t use a metronome and so does not work on development of processing speed the way that Brain skills does), but is still very good. The cost to get started is only about $80 — for the book, video, and starter kit of manipulatives. If cost is a major factor, you might want to try Audiblox first and see how your child does. If the gains are good but not enough, you could then graduate to BrainSkills.
I haven’t actually used BrainSkills, so all of my information about it is second-hand. I am trained in the PACE program, however, so I have a good general understanding of what’s involved.
