On Cloud Nine

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Has anyone tried On Cloud Nine? Can I figure out the program without taking the course, if I buy the book? Any suggestions or ideas for an alternative math program for students in 4th and 5th grade?

I have the book but not the training…it is another no-brainer but you will need some manipulatives..

Pattim,

Is this program a good choice for a little girl who will be in 2nd grade, who has an extremely difficult time with 1:1 counting, adding, subtracting, etc. or would you recommend something else?

Thanks

I think On cloud nine would be appropriate for her. Another thought might be Math-U-See. Sounds like she needs to understand the vocabulary surrounding the math and On Cloud Nine would help with that but Math-U-See is good too. I have seen the video and it makes a lot of sense to me. If she is just having problems memorizing her math facts and understands the vocabulary then you can do Math Facts the fun way which has a strong visual component to memorize the math facts.

Math-U-See (http://www.mathusee.com) would be really good for what you are describing.

You still may want to supplement with Math Facts the Fun Way (http://www.citycreek.com) and later with Quarter Mile Math software for drill (http://www.thequartermile.com).
