Could refusing to work independtly be a LD sign?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi all, I am new here. My son is 8 and has a lot of behavior problems. I have continually thought he might have some learning problems but because of his behaviors and how he tested 2 years ago, the school doesn’t think so. They are getting ready to retest him. Thank goodness! But, his teacher is continually telling me that he refuses to work independently. I think this has something to do with a learning disability. Has anyone else ever heard of this? We are also having him tested for auditory processing problems. I couldn’t find that on this site. Is there an area for that? Thanks in advance to all!

Go to “LD In Depth” and click on “Processing Disorders” or right here

There could be many reasons to refuse to work independently - but it definitely could have something to do with a learning disability.

Welcome to the board! I would suggest you go to the “parenting a child with LD” since that’s where most folks hang out … it’s a good bunch :-)
