Hello, thanks to everyone who responded. I didn’t expect to get such a response. I really just wanted to know how to have my kids be successful in the reg. ed. classes (where they really belong) without my complete involvement. I just want to feel more than “an aide”. I sometimes feel that is all I am doing. This is a long, complicated process. This year I feel that maybe I didn’t get to teach lessons, but I did open new doors into spec. ed. I hope that by working with the reg. ed. teachers, and showing them how I modify work and tests, they have come to understand how to do it themselves and how it benefits everyone. I think the teachers have come a long way this year. I just had to speak up for my kids. I just basically wanted some feedback to help me become a better spec. ed. teacher. I didn’t want to get into the whole inclusion thing. I think for most of my students it is working. They love being with their peers, and the reg. ed. kids even ask me for help. I just want a more active role.
Robin- I don’t have a parapro, just me!!!!! So I do everything!!!! Next year will be better since I know how to help my kids more efficiently. It is just frustrating sometimes. I just like to know what others think.
Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
