When I was in grad school, I came across an article that discussed grading students with IEPs in part on their study plan and the amount of effort they put into studying for a test. I have since not been able to find this information, or similar information, anywhere.
I want to implement these “study plans” with many of the students in their inclusion classes, but I can’t seem to find an example anywhere. Any ideas or information would be extremely helpful. Thank you!
DO be careful that you aren’t replacing learning with “looking like you’re trying,” and lowering expectations unreasonably. It’s a rude awakening when you find out a lot of teachers want knowledge and skills, not “effort.”
However, it is well worth turning those study skills into goals and objectives. http://www.resourceroom.net/older/ida_studyskills.asp has an outline for a whole course in it :-)
