Before I purchase this expensive program, I would like to hear opinions from anyone who has used it. My son’s assessment showed average computational skill (with heavy use of fingers and self-made visual prompts) and low average math reasoning for the 2nd grade level (Woodcock-Johnson). I am looking at Touch Math and have purchased Addition Facts the Fun Way to help with fact automaticity, but wonder if the Cloud Nine (Lindamood-Bell) program might provide a better conceptual base for math problem-solving. At the same time, I’m wary because although his assessment recommended the Lindamood-Bell LIPS program for phonological awareness, and I have pushed the school to purchase it (and meantime have started having him tutored in it) he seems to dislike the program and despite only having gotten slightly less than a third of the way through it may no longer even need it. (He was a year behind in Rosner’s test of auditory awareness four months ago but has since improved a grade level, largely as a result of remediation in his SLD class I suspect since he has only had LIPS for a short while.) I don’t want to purchase a program he may hate or not even need by the time we get it up and running. Is it a program he would benefit from and enjoy doing with a tutor or with me at home? Thank you in advance for your feedback.
