How do the other students feel about having children with disabilities in their classroom and those children receiving more attention then they are?
Re: inclusion
And it is the responsibility of the teacher to set the tone. If the teacher is accepting and welcoming of the child with the disability, the students in the class will be also.
Re: inclusion
Kate,
My son has been in an NI class since he was 5 he has no physcial disabilities, not ADD, not a behavior problem just ld.
He has been the teachers god send his whole school life helping the other kids up and down stairs, teaching them how to kick balls etc. He has never said anything unkind about any of the kids in his class he will tell me about bad behavior.
What I am trying to say to you is kids rise to the occasion and should not be under estimated. You might discover that kids may be happy to help another kid.
The all important thing to me is to remember the kid having trouble learning one thing might be great at something else.
