As an elementary education major, who is taking a class based on inclusion, know how to effectively integrate classwork and activities in the classroom. How can I help other students who don’t need special ed. to deal with the activities in the classroom?
Re: inclusive teaching
I advocate open discussion about the fact that we all have different learning styles and that we all live in the same world. Shouldn’t people who need support receive it? Don’t we all at one time or another need support?
Those kinds of questions make sense to children and help them to understand why some things are being done for some kids in the classroom.
The formal phrase is “demystify it”. Children are for the most part caring and generous and when they’re helped to understand, they usually do.
