Jamestown Reading

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

We are considering using the Jamestown reading program, “Signature Reading” in our self-contained English classes next year. Has anyone had experience…either positive or negative…with this program. Any suggestions regarding its uses, etc.? It is mostly focused on comprehension, but it looks okay so far. Thanks!

I’m not familiar with that particular program, but the Jamestown “Comprehension Series” is supposed to be excellent.

I have found the Jamestown reading materials to be excellent, and incorporate them into my teaching, but that may have nothing to do with how this program suggests teaching reading. (I don’t have experience with this program.) I would suspect that the emphasis is strongly on comprehension (because most of their materials are); if so, accuracy issues should, honestly!!!!, be addressed.
